For Manduria

We were born here.

A guided visit in a stone courtyard of the old town, Manduria, Salento, Puglia

We were born here. That is not a line for a website, it is the reason this project exists and the reason it looks the way it does.

A historic centre does not die of old buildings. It dies when people stop meeting. So the question we ask about every decision is not whether it makes the town prettier, but whether it gives someone a reason to stay.

What that means in practice.

We build with local hands. The two arches of the courtyard took five months, cut on site by masons who have worked this stone all their lives. Buying them ready made would have been faster and cheaper.

We are creating work for people under thirty-five. The spaces we are opening need a nutritionist and an athletic trainer, and we are looking for them here. We are offering the space, the equipment and the capital to start their own practice, not a salary.

We work with the town, not around it. Cultural and youth projects with the local institutions are in preparation. We will name them when they are signed, and not before.

And we are honest about what we are. We buy houses, we restore them, and some of them we sell. In a town that has been emptying for forty years, a house that finds a family is not displacement: it is the opposite of it. But we understand why the question gets asked, and we would rather answer it here than wait to be asked.
